| Review: | The Kennedy Center is one of the best center for the performing arts. I've been here about 5 times now to watch such plays as Edward Scissorhands and Sheer Madness, and to listen to things such as a Mozart orchestra. One of the best features of the Kennedy Center is the location. It over looks the Patomic River, and the rest of DC. When watching a show a night, if you go outside onto the balcony, you'll realize the the scenery is breath taking. Inside, the Kennedy Center feels majestic. There are about 100 foot ceilings, 50 foot flags of many different nations, huge curtains, columns, and mirrors. Kennedy Center has quite a few theaters as well, and the main opera house is awesome. The seats are comfortable, the viewing is decent (I wish it was a little more stadium styled so you can see over the heads of others), but it's more or less like an auditorium, or a movie theater. So if you get a tall person in front of you, you may have a difficult time seeing the show. I'd definitely recommend it - it's the best place around DC. The other decent one would probably be the Olney Center for Performing Arts, but if you compare the two, they are no where close. Kennedy's got it hands down. |
